Objectives of the Institute

 

 To effect this mission and philosophy the Institute advocates theses objectives:

1. To provide alternative paths to matriculation, testing, career counseling, appropriate course placement and supportive services for all students.

2. To provide appropriate developmental programs as well as accelerated programs according to student needs

3. To develop and asses core skills and strengthen learner’s computational and language skills

4. To unify the qualification system, including ‘academic’ and ‘technical/vocational’ subjects and provide transfer curricula which prepare students for upper-division studies

5. To provide career-orientated programs for individuals preparing for immediate employment in technical and business fields and the manpower needs of the nation.

6. To provide educational, training, and cultural programs to satisfy the needs and interests of students, staff and the community

7. To provide opportunities for student participation in the governmental, co-curricular, and social activities

8. To encourage the development of lifelong practices of wellness essential for optimum productivity and personal fulfillment

9. To allow for flexibility in a choice of subjects and provide opportunities for student to develop the knowledge, skill and attitudes necessary for success in the future academic and career efforts

10. To foster the development of critical thinking essential for identifying, analyzing, evaluating, synthesizing problems, i.e., evaluating diverse points of view, resolving conflicts, and exploring alternative ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving

11. To instill in learners desire for the pursuit of lifelong learning, self-development, and intellectual curiosity

12. To prepare students to meet the technological complexities of the world

13. To help students develop a sense of individual and civic awareness as responsible citizens in a democratic society

14. To use outcome measure to monitor the quality, effectiveness, and relevance of the institution’s educational practices

15. To develop the institute as a model for organizational and leadership effectiveness through a continuing process that emphasized the revitalization of people

 

The institute accepts the challenge of providing high quality secondary and post-secondary education at a reasonable cost. Instruction is delivered in the liberal arts, science and technology, continuing education, remedial education and special certificate programs. The Institute strives to cooperate with community constituencies in meeting the needs for worker and leadership skills in the various business, professional, and service areas. Opportunities for the development of occupational skills are balanced with those which promote the values of a liberal education. The institute firmly believes in the ideals, values, and procedures integral to democratic way of life. It seeks to cultivate critical and independent thought openness to new ideas, a sense of self-direction, moral sensitivity and a quest for wisdom.
